Garth R. Hunt
Garth Hunt is a graduate from Utah State University (USU) in Logan, UT. He received his Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science from the College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences with an emphasis in Dietetics. Other areas of interest while at USU led to minors in Portuguese, Music, and Chemistry.
Garth has a strong interest in nutrition, physiology, and research. He has had the opportunity of working in Dr. David A. York's research lab in the Center for Advanced Nutrition in 2009 while at USU. In conjunction, he received the Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunity (URCO) Grant where he worked on signaling mechanisms involving an inhibitory link between exercise and the incidence of Alzheimer's Disease in the endoplasmic reticulum. He has also participated in other research projects including Kid's Juice and Food Dudes regarding the measurement of fruit and vegetable intake and carotenoid levels in youth between the ages of 5-19.
After graduation, Garth will pursue his education in nutrition research. One of his interests is to apply to the Medical Nutrition Science Program at Boston University with a focus on nutrition and metabolism. A second interest is researching chronic diseases and working with populations and help them manage chronic illness. Garth hopes to be a research professional, continually finding new information on the management of intestinal disorders (both IBS and IBD).
In his free time, Garth enjoys living life to the fullest and makes his family and friends a priority. He enjoys being outside playing sports, hiking, camping, and fishing. He also has an appreciation for the arts and has been an active member of the Music Program and Ballroom Dance Team at USU.
